Free Rachel Maddow Now! Set Rachel’s (clothes/makeup) free!
We are huge fans of Rachel Maddow and her MSNBC show but there is something terrible wrong with the show. Rachel’s wardrobe and makeup. Okay, you’re probably thinking, who cares about her wardrobe and makeup? Well, that’s exactly our point here. Who cares? We all know and love Rachel exactly the way she is. Her clothes and makeup should not matter. So why does MSNBC make Rachel up to look like a clown?
This is the MSNBC “Rachel” – The face is way overdone. Sorry Rachel, love ya, but it’s a Clown face.
Who is this woman and why is she dressed like this? And where is she going? To a sales meeting?
This is the real Rachel. Comfortable and relaxed. Clean face and so cute.
I would put my last dollar that Rachel feels more comfortable doing her show in a pair of black jeans and a plaid shirt. It pains us to see her dressed in this Halloween “Newscaster ” costume. It pains us to see her “femmed up” to be more acceptable for public consumption. Let her be the big opinionated lesbian that she is. She’s not exactly hiding anything so why should MSNBC? We love her and accept her exactly the way she is.
So enough with the corporate suits and the crazy makeup – I say let’s free Rachel Maddow. Put back the black rimmed glass and take off the lip loss. Slap on a cool butch shirt and let Rachel Maddow be Rachel.

(Okay – Full Disclosure: I maybe bias because I have the same black rimmed glasses)

In all honesty, the only difference I see in those “before” and “after” shots is the glasses. Which would be fine with me. But I’m a straight guy, and as much as I love Rachel, she can’t go on the air without makeup. No TV newser goes on the air without makeup. And I think her on-air wardrobe is relatively harmless. It’s not like she’s “Murphy Browne’d” up like the FOX Newsettes are. But your point is taken. Perhaps MSNBC feels or felt that “big chunky horn-rim glasses = big dykey lesbian.” The initial meetings with MSNBC brass might have been hilarious in their awkwardness, especially if she had wanted to wear plaid shirts and heavy jeans jackets on the air. “Umm, Rachel, we don’t think that’s going to work so well on a news show…”
