Hadrian Miguel, LifeStyle & SkinCare Director
As part of my continuing beauty series OYO at Tangerine Living, this is where you’ll find fresh, cool, natural, and convenient ways to create simple cosmetic products.
I will take you step-by-step on our journey for brilliant, glowing, and beautiful skin using the best and effective ingredients in the comfort of your very own home and the Tangerine Living studios.
Here are my the first three beauty recipes I’ve created just for you…
Formulating your own Energizing Green Tea Facial Toner
Our OYO beauty products are an economical way to ensure purity, quality and freshness. It’s really simple and takes about 5 minutes to make right here in the kitchen.
We’re mixing together a face toner that utilizes the benefits of antioxidant-rich green tea and grapeseed with calming aloe vera and lavender.
Ingredients:
Step 1 Pour 1/2 cup hot distilled water over green tea and let steep for 5 minutes.
Step 2 Combine remaining ingredients and pour into clean bottle or mister.
Step 3 Let cool or refrigerate before using. Apply with cotton ball or mist after cleansing or as needed as a refresher.
Creating your own Ginger Face Cream
Making your own face moisturizer is very easy to do. It’ll save you money over expensive department store brands. Plus, your homemade skin cream can be much more fresh and pure, both in quality and effectiveness, to anything bought over-the-counter.
Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make a refreshing ginger face cream:
Step 1 Grate the ginger over a small glass bowl to get the juice out. Discard the pulp. Ginger adds a natural, fragrant aroma as well as, antioxidant and toning properties.
Step 2 Add the shea butter and heat in the microwave on its lowest setting at 15 sec. intervals until the shea butter has melted. Shea butter is an ultra-rich hydrator.
Step 3 Stir in Vitamin E and Aloe Vera and then mix thoroughly. Vitamin E is a natural preservative and moisturizing antioxidant.
Step 4 Transfer the ginger shea face cream mixture into a clean jar with lid. Store in a cool place or refrigerate to maintain purity and freshness. Shea butter ultra-hydrates and helps to seal in existing moisture.
Directions: Use face cream morning and night, and whenever needed to hydrate skin.
Making A Soothing Aftershave & Body Tonic
I have a very simple do-it-yourself formula that can be a toner, an aftershave and an after-bath body treatment all-in-one.
Today, we’re using ingredients like aloe and chamomile that calm and soothe, rebalance your complexion, and refresh the skin:
Step 1 Place the dried chamomile and lavender in a saucepan along with the water and heat to a simmer over low heat while covered. Allow to simmer for 30 minutes. Strain herbs and then discard them.
Step 2 Allow the mixture to cool. Store in a cool dark place or refrigerate.
Step 3 Splash or spritz on skin after bath, or shaving, and whenever needed.
